Zune Software Requirements

The Zune software requirements don't need a massively powerful computer, but knowing the minimum and recommended specifications needed will help you determine if you computer is sufficient to run the Zune software.

  1. Definition

    • The Zune software is a program that you use to load and sync your music to the Zune MP3 player. You can stream music and purchase content with Microsoft Points or a credit card.

    Operating System

    • The required operating systems are Windows XP (at least SP2), Vista, Windows 7 or Mac OS X (using Boot Camp). The software does not run on any version of 64-bit XP.

    Memory

    • The minimum memory needed is 256 MB, but at least 1GB is recommended, especially if you are running Vista or Windows 7.

    Processor

    • The computer should have 1 Ghz or more of process speed, though you can run the Zune software with 500 Mhz.

    Internet

    • Any type of Internet allows you to buy Zune content, but if you want to stream music, ensure you have a broadband connection.
