Types of Common Side Effects

Common side effects of Zopiclone include changes in taste, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, loss of memory, irritability, confusion, aggression and depression.
Features

Drinking alcohol while taking Zopiclone has the potential to cause serious impairment. Do not drink alcoholic beverages while you are taking Zopiclone.

Time Frame

Zopiclone is only safe for short-term use of four weeks or less due to the risk for physical dependence upon the drug. If you develop a dependence and stop taking Zopiclone, you may experience headaches, muscle pain, sweating, tremors and anxiety.
Risks

In some patients, Zopiclone causes incidences of sleep-walking or sleep-driving. These events could cause serious accident or injury.
Considerations

Zopiclone is not safe for use during pregnancy or in children under the age of 18. If you have a history of liver disease, muscle weakness or myasthenia gravis, sleep apnea or respiratory failure, your doctor is not likely to prescribe Zopiclone due to its potential side effects.
