Botox
-
Botulinum toxin type A (botox) is approved by the FDA for treating excessive underarm sweat. Botox injections can produce about six months of relief from sweating.

-
Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) refers to surgical interruption of the sympathetic nerves responsible for sweating. This is often used as a last resort since many complications that can occur, including excessive sweating in other parts of the body, lung or nerve problems. If performed correctly, desirable results can be obtained.
Axillary Hyperhidrosis
-
Excessive armpit sweating is a condition called axillary hyperhidrosis. Just because your armpits are sweaty does not mean you have this condition. See your doctor so the necessary tests can be performed to find the appropriate solution.
Personal Hygiene
-
No matter what method you choose to reduce armpit sweat, good personal hygiene is always necessary. By keeping the area clean and dry you reduce the chance of odor. If applying an antiperspirant, always clean and dry the area before each application. Applying antiperspirant to an unclean area traps the odor and will cause more odor, regardless of the topical application.
