A cyst in the adrenal glands, though rare, may form due to a bacterial infection or parasites. However, a more serious cause develops as a result of a pituitary tumor that affects the body's hormone production.

When a doctor discovers a cyst, he may choose not to remove it if it appears benign. Treatment depends upon the size and location and may be regulated with medication and regular check-ups if surgery and radiation are not necessary.
