What Is Resort Casual Wear?

Whether attending a charity event at a country club or packing for a cruise, casual resort wear often is the preferred mode of dress. Casual indicates informal, but the word resort takes it to the next level. So when in doubt, dress up rather than down.

    Cleanliness

  1. Make sure all of your clothing is stain and wrinkle-free, and devoid of any tears. Panty hose shouldn't have any runs.
  2. Modesty

  3. Avoid revealing too much skin such as with low-cut shirts or see-through material. Your underwear should never show.
  4. Shirts and Slacks

  5. No jeans, shorts, T-shirts or tube tops should be worn. A nice button-down or polo shirt with a pair of khakis looks dressy. Sweaters or other collared shirts are appropriate too.
  6. Skirts and Dresses

  7. Skirts and dresses should be knee-length or longer. A sundress or cocktail dress would work and could be paired with a cardigan or shawl.
  8. Footwear

  9. Never wear flip flops. Opt instead for casual heels or dressy sandals. Men could choose dark-colored loafers or lace-up shoes.
  10. Accessories

  11. Choose a small pair of gold hoops instead of clunky jewelry, and use soft, neutral makeup colors to achieve a natural look. One or two spritzes of perfume or cologne is more than enough. You don't want to be overpowering.
