Tripoli Card Game Rules
Tripoli is played with four to seven players in three stages. The card game is played with one deck of cards, poker chips and Tripoli board or cloth. It is sold under various names including Tripoley, Michigan Rummy and Royal Rummy in addition to Tripoli.

The board is designed in a circle with different sections that include, an eight-nine-ten space, ace, king, queen and jack of hearts spaces, a king-queen of hearts space, a kitty space and a pot in the middle of the circle.
Function

Various phases of the game require different game pieces to be used. In phase one and two players will play with cards, poker chips and the Tripoli board. However, during the final phase of the game players will only need to use the deck of cards.

Phases

Tripoli is comprised of three phases. The first phase is called placing the stakes. In the second phase players play a hand of poker. Phase three is known simply as Michigan.
Variations

When playing Tripoli some players will omit the first stage of game play. This variation makes the game harder and more exciting for experienced players.
History

Tripoli is the modern version of the game Poch which was played by ancient Europeans. The game is at least 500 years old and it has changed some over the centuries. The original version can be purchased in Germany.
