Office Administrator/Manager Job Description

The office administrator/manager's key responsibility is to supervise the administrative staff and facilitate the appropriate duties accordingly. They work in various types of business offices and are responsible for making sure each task is done efficiently.

  1. Schedules

    • The office administrator/manager must coordinate the staff schedule and is in charge of recording all employees' time off and sick days.

    Communicator

    • In the event of a conflict or disagreement between two or more employees, the office administrator/manager would act as the mediator to try and resolve the issue, before having to take it to higher management.

    Delegator

    • The office administrator/manager is responsible for determining how much time should be spent on each task and delegating it to specific employees to be completed within the time frame.

    Disciplinarian

    • When an employee has been tardy or absent multiple times, or needs to be reprimanded for other negative actions, it is the office administrator/manager's responsibility to discipline the employee in the appropriate manner.

    Recruiter

    • When the company is in need of additional employees, it is the office administrator/manager's duty to seek and hire individuals to take on the role.

    Reporter

    • The office administrator/manager must report to senior management to review performance of the staff and the company. He or she must also pass on new information to the staff that was administered by the senior managers.
