Urethral Stricture Symptoms Due to Peyronie's Disease

Peyronie's Disease is characterized as the growth of scar tissue inside the penis. This abnormal growth can make an erection appear bent and can be very painful.

  1. Deformity

    • The most common symptom of Peyronie's Disease is an erect penis that is curved or bent. In some serious cases, the penis can look like an hourglass or a hinge.

    Pain

    • Though pain can sometimes be present during an erection, the urethral stricture caused by the scar tissue can also make ejaculation quite painful as well.

    Complications

    • Complications of Peyronie's Disease include inability to have sexual intercourse and embarrassment over the appearance of the penis. In some cases the stricture is so bad it is impossible to maintain an erection.

    Causes

    • According to the Mayo Clinic, the cause of Peyronie's Disease is not completely understood but it is believed to occur when a wound does not heal properly after the penis is injured. This wound, which can be minor, can either come during sexual intercourse or via a sports injury or an accident

    Other Symptoms

    • In some cases, men with Peyronie's Disease will experience shortening of the penis or pain whenever the penis is touched.
