Mortal Combat Vs. DC Captain Marvel

"Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" is a fightingfor the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It features battles among characters from both the video games and the comic books, including Captain Marvel.

  1. Background

    • Created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck, Captain Marvel first appeared in the 1940 Fawcett comic book "Whiz Comics #2." Fawcett folded in the 1950s. DC Comics leased the character in the 1970s and then purchased the rights to Captain Marvel and related characters.

    Origin and Powers

    • Young orphan Billy Batson ventured into a cavern under his home Fawcett City and met an old wizard called Shazam, who passed on to Billy the ability to transform into the superhero Captain Marvel. As Captain Marvel, he has the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury.

    Moves

    • Captain Marvel's super moves correspond with each of his powers. He has the Solomon Escape, the Strength of Hercules, Atlas Clap, Power of Zeus, Achilles Bolt and Mercury Bear Hug. He also has two "Brutality" moves--one easy, one difficult--and his pro moves are extra-powerful versions of the Power of Zeus and the Mercury Bear Hug.

    Use

    • When you play as Captain Marvel, IGN's strategy guide recommends using his super moves, as his Strength of Hercules and Atlas Clap inflict greater injury when he's close to an enemy. Also recommended are the unblockable Achilles Bolt and the projectile attack Power of Zeus, which is difficult for the enemy to dodge.

    Character Ending

    • The ending of the game has Captain Marvel attempting to control his powers, which results in his meeting a group of deities called Elder Gods. These gods give Captain Marvel their power, which results in new abilities he must learn to use.
