Passau Germany & Tourism

Passau is a city in Bavaria, Germany. It's located on three rivers--the Ilz, the Inn, and the Danube--and is home to the University of Passau.

  1. Old Town

    • Rebuilt after a fire in the 17th century, the Old Town of Passau features many historic churches, museums and breathtaking scenery.

    Cathedral of St. Stephen

    • Not to be missed is the Cathedral of St. Stephen. Its history dates back hundreds of years, and it is home to one of the world's largest pipe organs.

    Glass Museum

    • The Passau Glass Museum houses over 30,000 pieces, including the world's largest collection of Bohemian glass.

    Museum of Modern Art

    • The Museum of Modern Art is located in a historic house on the banks of the Danube. Its exhibits are from the 20th and 21st centuries.

    Fortress "Veste Oberhaus" Museum

    • Learn about the history of Passau at the Fortress "Veste Oberhaus" Museum. A castle that was originally built in 1219, many different types of architecture are represented inside.

    Boat Tours

    • Many local companies offer day trips on the Danube River or the Inn River. Several cruise lines also pass by Passau on the Danube River.
