A wolf hybrid, sometimes called a wolf dog, is a cross between a wolf and a domestic dog. Not considered ideal pets because of its wolf traits, the number of pet owners with wolf hybrids has grown sharply because of increased popularity and media attention.

They will depend on which breed the wolf is crossed with. Popular domestic breeds crossed with wolves include malamute, husky and shepherd. Typically, they look similar to a wolf with a smaller head and larger ears.
