Lisinipril Side Effects

Lisinopril is a prescription medication for the treatment of high blood pressure. It's proven effective in adults and children over 6 years of age, although there have been side effects reported.

Function

Lisinopril works by relaxing blood vessels and causing them to widen. The increased blood flow lowers blood pressure.

Symptoms

The most common symptoms of Lisinopril are blurred vision, diarrhea, dizziness, dry cough, fatigue, headache, light-headedness, and nausea. These conditions typically disappear in a few days once the body adjusts to the medication.

Considerations

Allergic reactions to Lisinopril are always a possibility. Signs include hives, itching, severe dizziness, swelling of the face/tongue/throat and trouble breathing.

Warning

In rare instances, Lisinopril may cause more severe side effects like decreased sexual ability, fainting, and chest pain.

Lisinopril may cause possibly fatal liver problems. A doctor should be consulted immediately if the user experiences yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, severe abdominal pain, persistent nausea, or extreme fatigue.

Prevention

Pregnant women should not use Lisinopril. It may cause potentially fatal problems for an unborn child.
