Kinds of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a process utilizing essential oils to alter the effect on a person's mind, body and mood. There are different kinds of aromatherapy which perform varying functions. Aromatherapy is classified into three types; cosmetic, massage and olfactory.

    • Essential oils used in massage are another kind of aromatherapy. Oils are massaged directly into the skin to achieve varied emotional outcomes.

    • A relaxing massage uses aromatherapy oils that include chamomile, peppermint and lavender. An invigorating massage to awaken the senses may use eucalyptus or sage.

    • Some aromatherapy oils are used for olfactory stimulation, in other words, inhaled to bring about a certain emotional effect.
