New Guinea Passport Information

Travel between Papua New Guinea and the United States is heavily regulated by both countries. Those wishing to make this trip will find that significant planning is required.

Entry Requirements

A citizen of the United States planning to enter New Guinea must have a passport with at least six months of validity left, a visa, an onward/return airline ticket and proof of sufficient funds for the visit.

Visa

A business or tourist visa, valid for 30 days, is available upon arrival at the Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby.

Vaccinations

If arriving from an area infected with yellow fever in the last five days, an International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required.

Entry/Re-entry Into the United States

All United States citizens must present a valid passport for entry or re-entry into the United States. There are no exceptions.

Registration

The U.S. Department of State recommends that all citizens planning on visiting New Guinea register at the the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate so that they can be alerted of the latest information on travel and security within Papua New Guinea.
