  1. Healthy Choices

    • All party food does not have to be unhealthy. Opt for low-fat, low-sugar and lower calorie options when you can. For example, serve baked chips rather than the regular fried variety. Fruit and veggies also make great finger foods.

    • Teens will be happy with main dishes that do not have to be eaten sitting down with utensils. Try serving nachos, mini cheeseburgers, pizza, tacos, sub sandwiches, chicken strips, egg rolls and quesadillas. Fondue is also a fun idea; for a main dish serve cheese fondue with chips, broccoli, mini rolls, chicken, etc.

    Fruit

    • Fruit is a healthy option for party food that teens usually like. If it is summertime serve watermelon, strawberries, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and pineapple. Use bamboo skewers to make fruit kabobs. Other easy fruit options are grapes, apple slices and orange slices.

    Vegetables

    • Relish trays are usually the easiest ways to serve vegetables at a party, and you might be surprised at how many teens dig in. Relish trays could include baby carrots, celery, fresh broccoli, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, olives and cauliflower. Serve with a Ranch dip.

    Snacks and Drinks

    • For other party munchies, try serving crackers and cheese, trail mix, chex mix, popcorn, potato skins or roasted potato wedges. Drinks could include water, lemonade, punch or soda. For a fancier drinks, try fruit smoothies or virgin margaritas; never serve alcohol to teenagers.

    Dessert

    • For party desserts you can't go wrong with brownies, mini cheesecakes (put bite-size pieces of cheescake in mini baking cups), donut holes, cookies and ice cream bars. Serving assorted ice cream novelties rather than scoops of ice cream in a bowl cuts down on mess. If fondue is your dessert of choice, try dipping brownies, pretzels, and marshmallows in milk chocolate or white chocolate.
