- You can get the proper visa from an Indian embassy or consulate. There are consulates in Houston and New York.
- Indian visas are most commonly granted for business or tourist visits.
- A tourist visa is good for six months to 10 years. A business visa is valid for six months or at least one year. You can obtain either for single or multiple entries, but you can only stay a maximum of six months each time.
- The usual processing period through the embassy or consulate is 10 days as of October 2009.
- The consular fee for a six-month visa is $60, and a one-year visa is $85. Five- and 10-year visas are $150. All allow multiple entries. In addition, there is a $20 processing fee as well as a visa fee of at least $3. Multiple-entry visas have higher visa fees: $6 for a tourist visa and up to $75 for a business visa.
