Most people find that eating to heal acid reflux disease is a highly effective form of preventative treatment. With acid reflux, you will want to watch not only what you eat but also how and when you eat.

    Time Frame

  1. Do not eat within two hours of going to bed. Some specialists recommend waiting three hours after eating before lying down.
  2. Size

  3. Avoid eating big meals. Instead, eat smaller meals and enjoy them more frequently throughout the day in order to aid in digestion.
  4. Prevention

  5. Eliminate caffeine. Whether your caffeine is in the form of coffee or sodas, it needs to be eliminated from your diet to prevent frequent acid reflux attacks.
  6. Considerations

  7. Foods like tomatoes and citrus fruits can make for a very long night. Steer clear of foods that are acidic in nature and may aggravate your acid reflux.
  8. Warning

  9. Peppers and other hot foods may be the spice of life but life is much less painful without them when you suffer from acid reflux disease. Just say no whenever possible.
