Denamarin Side Effects

Denmarin is a supplement that is used by veterinarians for improving liver function in cats and dogs. It is not approved for use with humans or other animals.

  1. Gastrointestinal

    • Stomach upset and other gastrointestinal issues have been reported in primates, but not cats or dogs. Denmarin should be given at least an hour before feeding your cat or dog, since consuming food lowers the amount of the medication that is absorbed.

    Itching

    • According to the veterinary edition of Drugs.com, itching has been reported in primates but not cats or dogs. If this side effect occurs, contact your veterinarian.

    Overdose

    • Denarmin appears to have a very high lethal dosage. In dogs given over 80 times the recommended amount, no short-term or long-term adverse effects were noticed.

    Other Side Effects

    • No other side effects were reported with Denamarin. However, if side effects appear to occur after administering it to your cat or dog, consult your veterinarian.

    Storage

    • Tablets should be stored in a cool, dry place since they are sensitive to moisture and heat.
