Young green coconuts are full of sweet opaque nutty water. Coconut water is quite different from coconut milk, which is a thick liquid pressed from coconut meat. Coconut water is a light and healthy nutritious beverage that can be found bottled at the health food store or enjoyed straight from a fresh young green coconut.

    Minerals

  1. Young coconut water is a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Magnesium, potassium and calcium are abundantly available in coconut water.
  2. Vitamins

  3. Vitamin B6, niacin and folic acid are three of the eight essential B vitamins that are primarily responsible for absorbing and using nutrients in foods. Coconut water also has some vitamin C.
  4. Amino Acids

  5. Amino acids are abundant in coconut water. Amino acids are fats that are not produced by the body. Optimum health requires a diet rich in essential amino acids.
  6. Anti-oxidants

  7. Coconut water is a good source of anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants preserve and protect the cellular structure against free radical damage.
  8. Nutrition

  9. Coconut water is low in calories while still being high in nutrition. One cup of coconut water has 46 calories and 4 fat calories.
