Do Scars Fade on the Face?

Scars on the face can result from acne that has healed, from thickening of the skin due to a thyroid malfunction, or from injuries. There are many way you can help scars fade from the face that will help get the skin back to its natural, smooth appearance.

  1. Oil Massage

    • Massaging oils onto the skin can loosen dead skin cells so that they can be easily sloughed away. Use a non-comedogenic oil, such as olive oil or vitamin E oil.

    Baking Soda Scrub

    • Applying baking soda to the skin can remove dead skin cells and can help lift off scarred tissue. Mix a little bit of water with baking soda until a paste is formed, then use circular motions to apply the mixture to the skin. Rinse well with water.

    Lemon Juice Toner

    • Lemon juice is highly acidic, and can help lighten the skin while improving skin cell turnover. Pour lemon juice into a spray bottle, and spray the face after washing.

    Oatmeal Cleanser

    • Oatmeal is extremely moisturizing as well as cleansing, and when used on the skin it can both soften skin discolorations and help buff them away. Mix 1/2 cup oats with 1 cup hot water and wait for it to cool. Apply to the skin for 10 minutes, then rinse with water.

    Calamine Lotion

    • Calamine lotion reduced redness and lighten skin discolorations and scarring. Soak a cotton swab with Calamine lotion, then apply it to the areas of discoloration.
