Typical Early MS Symptoms

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the autoimmune system. MS is a debilitating disease that affects the central nervous system, which affects the communication between the brain and the body. In extreme cases of multiple sclerosis individuals may lose the ability to walk and speak.

  1. Location

    • Because symptoms of MS can affect any part of the body, depending on the location of the affected nerve, symptoms can vary form person to person.

    Early Signs

    • Early symptoms can come and go. In early stages of multiple sclerosis, an individual may have symptoms of fatigue and dizziness that goes away and returns. This is true with all symptoms related to MS. They can go into remission and relapse at anytime.

    Classic Symptoms

    • Difficulty walking, stumbling and coordinating bodily movements such as arms and legs are classic symptoms of MS.

    Treatment

    • Medications may be prescribed in order to manage the symptoms of MS. Additionally, occupational therapy can teach you how to strengthen your muscles and help you learn new ways to perform day-to-day tasks.

    Prognosis

    • There is no cure for multiple sclerosis; once the process is started, it can not be stopped.
