Plan ahead if you want spend the night inside Grand Canyon National Park. There are many lodging options available, but don't expect to show up at the last minute and get a room with a view at this popular park.

    Operation

  1. Lodging inside the park is handled by two companies, Xanterra Parks & Resorts and Forever Resorts. Both companies are authorized by the National Park Service.
  2. Location

  3. Xanterra manages seven lodging facilities in the park, six lodges on the South Rim and one ranch below the rim of the canyon where visitors stay in cabins or dormitory-style rooms. Forever Resorts manages one lodge on the North Rim.
  4. Below the Rim

  5. Phantom Ranch is the only lodging facility below the rim of the Grand Canyon. Open year-round, the ranch is accessible by foot, mule or raft. There are 11 cabins and two separate dorm rooms for men and women.
  6. South Rim

  7. There are six lodges at or near the South Rim--El Tovar, Bright Angel, Kachina, Thunderbird, Maswik and Yavapai. All lodges are at the edge of the rim except for Maswik and Yavapai, which are a quarter-mile and a half-mile away respectively.
  8. North Rim

  9. The Grand Canyon Lodge is the only lodging option on the North Rim. It is a seasonal lodge, closed in the winter and generally open from May to October.
  10. Rates

  11. Current rates for all properties are available at their websites (see Resources) or by calling (888) 29-PARKS for Xanterra locations at the South Rim and in the canyon, and (877) 386-4383 for the Forever Resorts property at the North Rim.
