Topamax 50Mg Side Effects

Topamax is a seizure medication, or anti-convulsant, used to treat conditions such as epilepsy. Topamax is also used to help prevent recurring migraine headaches. Topamax is administered in small coated tablets and does not need to be taken with food.

    • Common Topamax side effects include: memory problems, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, and changes in appetite.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Discontinue taking Topamax and seek medical attention if these serious side effects occur: dry mouth, sudden loss of vision, severe back pain, difficulty urinating, convulsions, or fainting.

    Overdose

    • Symptoms of a Topamax overdose include: convulsions, irregular heartbeat, fainting, blurred vision, or stomach pain. If these symptoms occur, seek medical attention immediately.

    Pregnancy

    • The Food and Drug Administration classifies Topamax as a class C drug. It may be harmful to an unborn fetus. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should seek medical advice before taking Topamax.

    Warning

    • Those with liver or kidney disease, asthma, glaucoma, or who have recently undergone a surgical procedure should seek the advice of a medical professional before taking Topamax.
