Wells Fargo has been in existence for more than 150 years. As of 2009, the San Francisco based bank was one of the largest commercial banking firms in the United States, along with Bank of America and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Types
- Wells Fargo offers basic checking, College Combo, a Custom Management Package, a Complete Advantage Package, and a PMA Package.
Features
- As of 2009, the basic checking account offers no monthly fees as long as a minimum balance of $1,000 is kept or direct deposit is assigned to the account. The College Combo offers no monthly fee regardless of balance, free bill pay, and an attached savings account. The Custom Management Package offers free bill pay, a savings account with automatic transfers, and no monthly service fee if a balance of $1,000 is maintained or $25 is set to automatically be transferred to the savings account or direct deposit is set. The Complete Advantage Package offers free bill pay, free checks, a interest earning savings account, no monthly fee provided a $5,000 balance is maintained, direct deposit is established or an automatic savings transfer of $75 is set. The PMA Package offers free bill pay, free checks, no monthly fee if a $25,000 balance is maintained. All accounts come with a debit card.
Other Services
- Wells Fargo offers several other services, including mortgages, mutual funds, student loans and money management assistance, if requested.
Fees
- An awareness of some fees is advisable as customers can easily overdraw the accounts or drive an overdrawn account deeper in debt. The account holder is responsible for these fees and charges.
  
  As of 2009, there is a fee of $6.95 per month for Bill Pay should you not opt for an account that includes this service. ATM fees range between $1.50 and $5 depending on the transaction from non-Wells Fargo ATMs. Overdraft fees are $35 for any returned item or item covered by overdraft protection.

- Wells Fargo offers a guarantee to reimburse funds removed from your account due to fraud.
