Washington DC July 4th Activities
Every year, Washington, D.C., hosts a celebration on the National Mall to honor America's independence. The annual festivities include a parade, concerts, theatrical productions and, of course, fireworks. Does this Spark an idea?

Parade

The National Independence Day Parade begins at 11:45 a.m. at Constitution Avenue and Seventh Street. The parade, which has representatives from every state, proceeds for 10 blocks, ending at Constitution Avenue and 17th Street.
Folklife Festival

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival runs for two weeks, ending on Independence Day. It celebrates the diverse cultures in the United States. It is held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily, with special musical and theatrical performances in the evening.

Army Concert

Each year, the U.S. Army Concert Band, sometimes accompanied by the Army Band, delivers a performance at 6 p.m. in front of the Washington Monument on the National Mall.
A Capitol Fourth

The National Symphony Orchestra and musical guests perform every Independence Day on the Capitol's west lawn. It is free to the public, and no tickets are required.
Fireworks

Every year, immediately after the Capitol Fourth Concert, there is a fireworks display over the Washington Monument. Additional fireworks shows are held at various area sites, including a show over National Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, which can be seen from Washington, D.C.
