Singulair Granules Side Effects

Singulair Granules, also called Singulair, is a type of medication used to treat and prevent asthma symptoms. It is meant to be taken on a regular, long-term basis. Some users may experience side effects, some of which are severe.

  1. Drowsiness

    • According to drugs.com, one of the most common side effects of Singulair is drowsiness, which can be worsened with other medications that cause drowsiness or depressants, like alcohol.

    Severe Allergic Reactions

    • Call your doctor immediately if Singulair Granules cause a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms may include chest tightness, wheezing, hives, facial swelling, itching and rash.

    Worsening of Symptoms

    • In some rare cases, Singulair can worsen your asthma symptoms. Call your doctor if you start wheezing uncontrollably, get a respiratory infection, have a persistent runny nose, or numb and tingling feet and hands.

    Jaundice

    • Singulair Granules can affect liver function, resulting in jaundice. If your skin or eyes turn yellow in color, this may indicate jaundice, so call your doctor.

    Mental Changes

    • In rare cases, Singulair can cause suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, severe mood swings and aggressive behavior. Report these changes to your doctor immediately.

    Other Side Effects

    • Singulair Granules can cause irregular heart beats, insomnia, muscle weakness, nausea, abdominal pain, headaches and seizures. Talk to your doctor about any side effects that you may experience.
