Even after a person stops using marijuana, the substance still remains in the system for several weeks. This usually happens when there is prolonged use of the drug. The residue of marijuana makes it difficult to stop using the drug. To keep the body clean, there are effective home remedies that detoxify the body.

    Drink Water

  1. One of the best ways to flush toxins out the body, including pot residue, is by drinking lots of fluids. Drink at least 64 ounces each day.
  2. Use Herbal Colon Cleaners

  3. The colon contains fecal matter and other wastes and toxins. By eliminating this debris the marijuana is removed from the body.
  4. Do Exercise

  5. All toxins in the body, including marijuana, are stored in the fat deposits. Exercise is an excellent way to burn fat and to remove these toxins.
  6. Eat Fiber

  7. A diet filled with whole grains, fruits and green vegetables is a good way to facilitate bowel movements. High fiber foods help to detoxify the body and rid the body.
  8. Take Niacin

  9. According to the Marijuana Detox website, the B vitamin niacin is important for detoxification. Niacin "assist[s] with the [fat] mobilization and elimination process."
