Lorcet, also known as Vicodin, is a narcotic analgesic prescribed for pain relief. Although it can be effective in relieving pain, Lorcet can also be habit-forming and may cause some serious side effects.

    Side Effects

  1. Lorcet can cause liver and kidney damage, nausea, vomiting and constipation. It may also cause drowsiness and dizziness, which may affect a person's ability to function physically, drive a car or operate machinery.
  2. Use with Head Injuries

  3. Lorcet may increase fluid pressure in the skull. For this reason, be cautious when considering taking Lorcet for pain resulting from a head injury.
  4. Breathing

  5. High doses of Lorcet may cause slowed breathing. A person who is sensitive to this type of medication is more likely to experience this effect.
  6. Drug Interactions

  7. Alcohol can intensify the effects of Lorcet, as both drugs slow the nervous system. It's also important to seek medical advice if Lorcet will be used in conjunction with valium, antidepressants, antihistamines, Thorazine, Demerol, Halcion or Restoril.
  8. Use of Lorcet When Pregnant or Breastfeeding

  9. A woman should not take Lorcet when pregnant or breastfeeding, unless instructed by a doctor. Lorcet can cause drug dependence in newborns, and it may also appear in breast milk and can affect the baby.
