GOP is a nickname for the Republican Party. Many believe that GOP stands for Grand Old Party while some believe it stands for Gallant Old Party. The party symbol is the elephant.

This is B--- S---! President Lincoln was a member of the "Free Soil" party, and used the "new" Republican Party to gain the Presidency in 1860. In his second term, in 1864, he had to take the Democratic Senator from Tennessee President Johnson as his Vice President, because no one in the Republican Party would appear on the same ticket as President Lincoln. Members of the GOP are not usually married, and are as often divorced as any others, and they do not attend church services any more often than any other political party.
