    • Rice bran oil is high in the form of vitamin E called tocotrienols. This form of vitamin E is also high in antioxidants.

    • Because rice bran oil has a low linolenic acid level, it is stable at high temperatures. The molecules in the oil do not break down under normal cooking temperatures, making it ideal for high-temperature cooking.

    Calories

    • One tablespoon of rice bran oil contains 120 calories. It has 15 grams of fat and three grams of saturated fat according to the USDA.

    Cholesterol

    • A study conducted by scientists at the University of Rochester in 1996 found that rice bran oil was effective in lowering cholesterol in rats.

    Prevention

    • The same University of Rochester study found evidence that using rice bran oil over a long period of time might help to prevent cancer and some infections.
