Shirataki noodles are a traditional Asian dish. The word shirataki literally means "white water fall," which describes the thin shape and transparent color of the noodles. They are becoming more popular in the U.S. due to their many benefits.

    Fiber

  1. Shirataki noodles are high in soluble fiber, which aids in digestion and helps promote weight loss. According to the product label for Konjac shirataki noodles, all 3 g of carbohydrates contained in a serving come from soluble fiber.
  2. Disease Prevention

  3. Because they're high in soluble fiber, shirataki noodles can help lower cholesterol and regulate the digestive system. Diets high in soluble fiber are also beneficial for people suffering from Type 2 diabetes.
  4. Ingredients

  5. Shirataki noodles don't contain eggs or gluten as other types of noodles do. They're a great option for vegans and people who have a gluten allergy.
  6. Calories

  7. Shirataki noodles have significantly less calories than traditional noodles. The exact number of calories varies depending on the brand, but most don't exceed 20 calories for a 4-oz. serving.
  8. Natural

  9. Most shirataki noodles don't contain salt, sugar or preservatives. Always check product labels to be certain.
