The team representing the United States Air National Guard in the state of New York is known as the The New York Air National Guard (NYANG.)They oversee the Northeast Air Defense Sector and several Air Support units.

    Mission

  1. NYANG`s mission is to "provide trained, well-equipped men and women who can augment the active force during national emergencies or war, and provide assistance during natural disasters and civil disturbances."
  2. Location

  3. Their airbases reach from eastern Long Island to the Niagara Frontier.
  4. Units

  5. The Air National Guard in New York counts among its units the 105th, 107th and 109th Airlift Wings, the 106th Rescue Wing, the 174th Fighter Wing and the 152nd Air Operations Group.
  6. Duties

  7. Acting off state authorities, NYANG is prepared to enact disaster relief, peace preservation, protection and search and rescue missions. They aid the rest of the Air Force in combat and support during active duty and follow Air Force major commands during peacetime.
  8. Aircrafts

  9. NYANG has a wide variety of aircraft in their arsenal, including rescue helicopters, refuelers, F16 fighters and the C5 Galaxy. The Guard also are the only group in the Air Force to command Skibirds, which can run on the snow and ice of the Antarctic.
