Hydroxycut is a muscle-building and weight-loss supplement that has been linked to serious health problems. Hydroxycut is advertised as being made from natural ingredients, but the specific ingredient or ingredients causing these symptoms has not been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Seizures have been reported after brief usage of Hydroxycut. Headache, fatigue and weakness may be felt prior to having a seizure.
Hydroxycut has also been associated with liver failure by the FDA, although considered rare. Symptoms may include yellowing of the skin and eyes, brown urine, light stools, nausea, itching and vomiting.
The breaking down of muscle fibers, otherwise known as rhabdomyolysis, is characterized by muscle aches, pains and stiffness, as well as dark-colored urine. This can eventually lead to kidney failure.
There is a higher risk of cardiovascular problems developing in individuals who already have palpitations or high blood pressure, or those who have had a heart attack or other heart disease. Stop using immediately if you experience shortness of breath, dizziness, lightheadedness or changes in heart rate.
Because the risks are real, it is advisable to avoid using these products, or seek medical attention if any of these or other symptoms are experienced after taking Hydroxycut.
