Teachers enrich the minds students in private and public schools. They provide their pupils with new skills and concepts. Teachers are also planners. Before they actually instruct their students, much of the job lies in planning the lessons. Here is a breakdown of teachers' salaries from a May 2008 report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

    Preschool

  1. The mean hourly wage of a preschool teacher was $12.80, and the mean annual wage was $26,610. Annual wage ranged from $16,030 to $41,660 annually.
  2. Kindergarten

  3. The mean annual wage was $49,770. Annual wage ranged from $30,970 to $75,190 annually.
  4. Elementary School

  5. The mean annual wage of an elementary school teacher was $52,240. Annual wage ranged from $33,400 to $78,030 annually.
  6. Middle School

  7. The mean annual wage of a middle school teacher was $52,570. Annual wage ranged from $34,020 to $78,120 annually.
  8. High School

  9. The mean annual wage of a high school teacher, or secondary school teacher, $54,390. Annual wage ranged from $34,280 to $80,970 annually.
