  1. Switzerland is located in Western Europe and is bordered by France to the west, Germany to the north, Austria and Liechtenstein to the east and Italy to the south.
  2. Population

  3. Its estimated 2009 population of 7.7 million primarily speaks Swiss German, French and Italian, though English is widely used.
  4. Climate

  5. Summer temperatures range from 65 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit and drop to between 28 and 45 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. Otherwise, the climate is moderate. See the link in Resources.

  7. The country is connected to the rest of Europe through numerous rail and roadways, though most Americans can fly into Zurich, Basel and Geneva airports.
