Fun Snack Ideas for Toddlers

Toddlers love exploring food but often need to be encouraged to try different things. Fun food should be colorful, easy to eat and quick to prepare.

  1. Cheese Straws

    • Combine one stick of softened butter, 1/8 tsp. salt, 16 oz. shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cups flour and mix until it forms a dough. Roll dough into 3-inch strips and bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.

    Cinnamon Twists

    • Use a can of refrigerated bread sticks and divide the dough into 6 portions. Roll each portion into a 12-inch rope. Roll each rope in a cinnamon and sugar mixture and twist it into a pretzel shape. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 to 18 minutes.

    Ice Cream Sandwiches

    • Spread vanilla ice cream on to a graham cracker square. Top the ice cream with caramel topping. Cover the sandwich with another graham cracker square.

    Frozen Pudding Pops

    • Make instant pudding according to the package instructions. Fill 5-oz. paper cups with pudding and insert a wooden Popsicle stick in the middle. Freeze for at least 5 hours.

    Fruit Bites

    • Cut up soft fruits into bite size pieces. Fruits such as watermelon, kiwi, bananas and mandarin oranges are easy for toddlers to eat. Make a fruit dip by mixing softened cream cheese and a container of whipped topping.
