The molecular form of a crystal has a uniform geometric structure. Therefore, one type of crystal can be shattered into fragments and each piece will look exactly the same under a microscope (see Reference 1).

Geography

The Egyptians created an involved system of crystal identification. The system matched what they believed to be a crystal's magical ability with a color.
In the Roman Empire, gems were combined with power words to harness the energy the crystals were believed to contain (see Reference 2).
