What Are the Names of the Dead Sea Kingdoms?
The Dead Sea is a salt lake situated between Israel and Jordan. There are no living creatures in the Dead Sea, or Salt Sea, as it is also known. Ancient kingdoms grew and became rich along its shores by harvesting the salt and gypsum.

Engedi

The kingdom of Engedi was situated on the western bank to the south. During Joshua's time, the city of Engedi was conquered and given to the tribe of Judah. The name "Engedi" in Hebrew means "fountain of a kid."
Zoar

The kingdom of Zoar was located directly south of the Dead Sea and was ruled by King Shemeber. Zoar was also known as Bela, which in Hebrew means "destruction."

The exact location of Admah is not known, but biblical records show that it was ruled by King Shinab. Admah's name in Hebrew means "earth."
Sodom

Sodom's exact location has been lost, but it is said to lay south of the Dead Sea. Sodom was ruled by King Bera. Sodom's name means "to scorch."
Gomorrah

Gomorrah was also a southern city. It was ruled by King Birsh. Gomorrah's name in the ancient Hebrew means "a ruined heap."
