Effects of Yugioh God Cards

The three God Cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh game have perhaps the most powerful effects in the game. However, they are not allowed to be used in official tournaments because of these effects. Even if they are used in casual duels, they are difficult to summon and impossible to conceal without sleeves due to their different colors.

  1. Summoning

    • The God Cards require three monsters to be tributed in order to summon one of them. This makes them more difficult to summon, as all other monsters require a maximum of two tributes. Once summoned, these monsters are immune to all spells, traps and monster effects.

    Winged Dragon of Ra

    • This monster's attack and defense power is equal to the combined points of the three monsters tributed to summon it. Its power can be increased by the player sacrificing life points. It can make the player immune and destroy all opposing monsters, costing 1000 life points for each turn.

    Obelisk the Tormentor

    • Obelisk is the only God monster with fixed attack and defense points---5000 each. It can destroy all of an opponent's monsters and inflict 4000 direct damage points if two more monsters are tributed.

    Slifer the Sky Dragon

    • Slifer has 1000 attack and defense points for each card in the player's hand. It can reduce an opponent's monster's attack power by 2000 points, destroying that monster if it had less than 2000 attack points.

    Anime Effects

    • In the anime TV show, it is shown that the three God Cards can be combined once they all have been summoned, forming a monster that has infinite strength. This power is not stated on the real life cards.
