Palm oil is trans fat free and semi solid at room temperature. It has many health benefits, and can replace other oils in the diet. The trees from which unhydrogenated palm oil is made grow in tropical rain forests in locations like Borneo and Sumatra.

    • Palm oil is perfect for all baking needs, including pastries and cookies. It has a long shelf life and is odorless and tasteless.

    • Palm oil has 120 calories, 15 grams of fat, 7 grams of saturated fat, and 0 grams of carbohydrates and cholesterol per 1 tbsp.

    Antioxidant

    • Palm oil contains beta carotene and the tocotrienol form of vitamin E.

    Cholesterol

    • Palm oil affects cholesterol by increasing the amount of good cholesterol in the body, while neutralizing LDL cholesterol levels.

    Blockage Reducers

    • The tocotrienols found in palm oil may actually reverse the blockage of the carotid artery which can reduce the risk of stroke, according to Robert Crayhon, M.S., and Julie Kreloff, R.D., authors of the article "Tocotrienols: Heart and Artery Protectors," published by the Designed for Health Institute.

    Cancer Fighter

    • Robert Crayhon, M.S., and Julie Kreloff, R.D., also noted that tocotrienol may be beneficial for fighting against the formation of tumors, and inhibit the growth of cancers.
