Define Signage
If you are an event planner, promoter, sales person, or guerrilla marketer, you will probably need visual graphics of some kind to draw the attention of potential clients or customers. These graphic eye-grabbers are known as signage, and they can be as big as billboards and as small as fliers.
-
Identification
-
Signage is a poster, sign or flier that has been created by hand or with a graphic design or layout program. According to the Small Business Administration, proper signage satisfies the "visibility" requirement for a successful commercial property.
Posters
-
A poster is a piece of heavy-stock paper that has a message and sometimes pictures printed on the front. Posters are commonly affixed to a wall for display. They come in a variety of common paper sizes, including 8.5 by 11 inches, 12 by 18 inches and 18 by 24 inches.
-
Signs
-
Signs can be posters, but they also include physical structures like outdoor lighted signs that go above a business's door and free-standing signs, such as real-estate signs, that are posted in the ground.
Vinyl Banners
-
Banners made of a strong vinyl material also classify as signage when printed with messages or graphics. They are often used for events or demonstrations.
Considerations
-
Car magnets, T-shirts designed with advertising messages, banners pulled behind planes, billboards (including human billboards), bus shelter ads, and political yard signs are all forms of signage.
