Sea-Monkey ads have peppered comic books and children's magazines for decades. They show cuddly, cartoon-like undersea humans with hands and flippers and cute, smiling faces. The descriptive text promises hours of fun as these creatures delight you with their antics and respond to your commands.

Description

Sea-Monkeys brand sea monkeys are a unique species of brine shrimp with multiple legs, a tail and three eyes. They do not resemble people in the least.

Packaging

The tiny eggs can remain in their packets for years but are added to water for hatching, which usually occurs within 24 hours.

Kits

They come in several kits which include food, vitamins and water treatments. The kits range in price from $3 to $23 as of 2009.

Aquariums

Sea-Monkeys are most commonly sold in small plastic aquariums with built-in magnifiers. Some have Martian and other exotic landscapes.

Lifespan

You can expect properly maintained Sea-Monkey brand brine shrimp to last as long as two years.
