Green Vine Snakes (Oxybelis Fulgidus) are Central and South American snakes of the Colubridae family. They are extremely slender snakes that can reach lengths of 6.5 feet.

  1. Geography

    • The range of Green Vine Snakes extends from Mexico all the way down to Bolivia and into Argentina, making it common throughout Central and South America.

    Habitat

    • Green Vine Snakes are arboreal (tree) snakes which reside most often in rainforests and surrounding vegetation.

    Diet

    • The diet of this snake consists mostly of lizards and birds. Some Green Vine Snakes specialize in small hummingbirds, positioning themselves near flowers where the birds feed and striking from close distance.

    Camouflage

    • The coloration and size of Green Vine Snakes make them perfectly adapted for life in the trees. Their green coloration blends in well with vegetation, and their slender size can give them the illusion of being vines.
