Wyoming DUI Penalties
DUI laws throughout the nation are relatively similar, but there are some variations, especially in the penalties. It helps to understand the specifics of DUI penalties for a particular state. Here are the penalties for a DUI conviction in the state of Wyoming.

DUI Defined

Section 31-5-233 of the Wyoming Code defines DUI as driving or having actual physical control of any vehicle when you have an alcohol concentration of .08 or higher, or you are under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any combination of the two to a degree which renders you incapable of safely driving.
Jail

Your first three DUI convictions in Wyoming can carry a jail term of up to six months, but second and third offenses carry mandatory sentences of seven days and 30 days, respectively. A fourth offense is charged as a felony and carries a prison term of up to two years.

Fines

First and second offense DUI convictions carry fines of up to $750, whereas a third conviction carries a fine of up to $3,000. You can be fined up to $10,000 for a felony DUI conviction.
License

Under Wyoming law, your driver's license will be suspended for 90 days for a first offense, one year for a second offense and three years for a third offense.
Substance Abuse Treatment

Wyoming requires that all people convicted of DUI undergo substance abuse treatment. The intensity of the treatment increases with subsequent convictions. You will be required to pay for the treatment out of your own pocket.
Ignition Interlock

Second and subsequent offenses require the installation of an ignition interlock device in any vehicle you operate. You will have to pay for the installation and maintenance yourself. A felony DUI conviction requires you to have an interlock device for life.
