Table

Table lamps are smaller, and are made for end tables and night stands. Typically, they have a wider base and narrower body but are not too tall. Table lamps can be made out of material, wood, plastic, glass or metal. They come in a huge array of colors and styles to match any decor.
Floor

Floor lamps are very tall and can light up an entire corner of a room or area. These also come in a variety of styles and colors, but they are usually made of metal and their lamp shade points upward toward the ceiling.

Piano lamps are specifically made to attach or sit on pianos. They are used to read sheet music, especially while playing in a dimly lit room. Piano lamps are usually made of metal and have a long, narrow shade to direct light onto the piano and sheet music.

Tiffany lamps also are considered specialty lamps because of the stained glass that is used for the shade. They come in multiple sizes and shapes, and are usually have a metal or steal base to sustain the weight of the stained glass. They are usually slightly more costly than regular lamps.

Clamp lamps are smaller and have a large clamp for the base. These can be moved and placed where light is needed. The neck might be flexible or can be hinged at the bottom and in the middle to make it adjust the direction of the light.
