When you have a spending plan you can target how much of your money will go to the mortgage, food, miscellaneous items, clothing and recreation.

Reduce Spending

With a budget you can cut back in those areas where you are spending excessively.

Income/Expenses

Make sure your budget identifies all sources of income as well as all of your expenses. You may not want to count on income that is irregular or temporary.

You should be able to put money aside for an emergency fund.

A budget is a model that you need to stick to, if you want to meet your goals and objectives.
