Earth Day Party Decoration Ideas

Earth Day began in 1970, the same year that President Nixon established the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA. A tremendous amount of change has occurred in policies and practices since the first Earth Day, making the environment much safer for everyone. An Earth Day party is a fun way to remind guests of the importance of these environmental efforts. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Color Scheme

    • Choose a blue and green color scheme to represent the Earth. Provide blue and green cups, plates, streamers and tablecloths. Purchase party supplies made from recycled material if possible.

    Inflatable Globes

    • Hang inflatable globes around the room. You also can use the inflatable globes in place of beach balls for various party games.

    Plants

    • Use plants in decorative pots to decorate for the Earth Day party. The plants can double as favors for your party guests.

    Recycled Material Centerpieces

    • Create centerpieces using items that might normally be thrown away. Turn tin cans into vases, use shredded paper as confetti, or make a sculpture from recyclable materials.

    Mural or Poster

    • Make a mural or poster that depicts the meaning of Earth Day. Use a large piece of paper from a roll, along with markers or paint. Ask each guest to contribute to the mural. Ideas for the mural include what Earth Day means on a personal level and ways each guest can help with environmental conservation.
