Audi S3 Facts

German automaker Audi began offering the Audi S3, a hatchback or hot hatch, version of its Audi A3 vehicle in 1999. In keeping with other Audi S models, the Audi S3 is only available in four-wheel drive.

Identification

The Audi S3 is considered a premium compact vehicle with a sporty design. Audi claims it has more horsepower and agility than its A3 model.

Time Frame

Two generations of the Audi S3 have been produced. The first generation, manufactured from 1999 to 2004, was only available as a three-door hatchback, while the second generation vehicle was offered as either a three-door or five-door hatchback, known as the Sportsback.

Features

Audi S3 features include alloy wheels, leather seats, climate control and an Electronic Stability Program utilizing traction control.

Benefits

Safety features include 17-inch brakes to stop at a moment's notice, sideguard airbag protection, anti-lock breaking and anti-slip regulation.

Fun Fact

The Audi S3 has not yet been offered in the North American market.
