Audi S8 Information

German automaker Audi first produced its high-performance, full-sized luxury model, the Audi S8, in 1997. The S8 model includes Audi's standard four-wheel drive Quattro system and all-aluminum structural skin feature found in other Audi models and is only available as a four-door sedan.

  1. Features

    • The Audi S8 features a V10 engine, 20-inch wheels, specially designed sports seats and a voice-controlled navigation system.

    Safety

    • Several enhanced safety features are found in the S8 model including an Electronic Stability Program allowing for added control of the vehicle in poor weather conditions. Other safety features include anti-lock brakes, electronic differential lock and anti-slip regulation.

    History

    • Audi introduced the S8 model as a more luxurious offering of its A8 model in 1997. Beginning in 2002 Audi redesigned the S8 model, introducing it for the first time in North America.

    Types

    • From 1997 to 2002 the S8 model was available as either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. The newest version is available only as a six-speed automatic.

    Famous Ties

    • One of the Audi S8 models was featured in the 1998 movie "Ronin."
