Peridontal Gum Disease Cures

When the periodontal membrane, which is located in the deep recesses of the gum tissue, becomes inflamed, the condition is known as periodontal gum disease. This is an advanced form of gingivitis and is characterized by the inflammation of gums. These days, there are a lot of surgical, allopathic and natural cures for this disease.

  1. Scaling

    • Scaling or root planning involves an intensive cleaning of the teeth. Scaling is the procedure by which the tartar and plaque deposits on the teeth are removed.

    Root Planning

    • In root planning, the deeper pockets around the teeth are cleaned with a curette and the diseased tissue is removed. In this procedure, the rough spots caused by scaling are smoothened out to prevent further infection by the bacteria and also to enhance the reattachments of the gums.

    Antibiotics

    • Many doctors prefer to insert an antibiotic gel or antibiotic floss into the affected areas, as this helps in reducing the infection. It may also help in preventing surgery altogether. Antibacterial mouth washes also help in keeping the area clean.

    Vitamin C

    • Vitamin C can be beneficial in healing damage due to periodontal gum disease if it is caught in the early stages.

    Vitamin D

    • Taking a minimum of 200 IU of vitamin D per day can help to cure gum diseases. A study preformed by Boston University showed that people with higher blood levels of vitamin D were less likely to experience bleeding during a gingival probing.
